Way Too Eager

Serves me right, I know, for being way too eager to get back into running, but I guess I have been feeling restless without mountains and mountains for work for school.  Still, I probably shouldn’t have done so much hard running last week because now, for the first time, I’m feeling some pretty fierce pains in my shins.  I’m super-hoping that they’re merely shin splints that I can recover from in a few days, and not something like a stress fracture (like my hypochondriac side is saying it is) but we shall see.  In the mean time, I am forcing myself to stay off running completely (no road, track or treadmill) and trying to maintain some sanity by logging some miles on the elliptical.  4 miles on the machine today, and it to SO LONG.

Like I said, today I trained on the elliptical for what seemed like way too long (a little under 50 minutes) and the machine read out was only 4 miles.  I followed it with 20 minutes of lifting that I promised myself I would do to try to get some core strength back and avoid injury.  I’ve also been feeling heavy lately and have been generally unhappy with the couple extra pounds that have been on me.  I need to figure out a way to stop gorging on food all the time!
